GOLF DES ILES BORROMéES
The “Des Iles” course sits at an altitude of 600 metres in the AltoVergante area, a plateau above Stresa and Lesa meaning that golfers can enjoy a magnificent view from all of its holes. From the green of hole 9, before returning to the club house, golfers can enjoy a splendid view of the Sempione mountains and Val Grande. On clear days, Milan’s skyline, together with four lakes (Maggiore, Varese, Monate and Cannobio) and the Canton Ticino Alpine range can be seen from the tee-off at hole 18. Along the course, golfers will be accompanied by the silver blue of the surrounding birches. Pine trees, spruces and larches, interspersed with oaks, holm oaks and chestnut trees, will remind golfers of the altitude and the fact that they find themselves in the Pre-Alps. This is a natural course and it is immediately apparent that none of its difficulties, differences in levels or hazards are man-made. They have been there for centuries. The architect, Marco Croze simply highlighted or adapted them to a course that players will find both enjoyable and challenging. In summer, during the hottest months of July and August, the temperature never rises above 28° and there is always a pleasant breeze. In winter, the sun warms the holes, almost all of which are south-facing.
