Surrounded by greenery amidst the hills breathtaking landscape shaping the border between the Provinces of Parma and Piacenza, just few minutes away from the Thermal Spa town of Salsomaggiore Terme, in the Emilia Romagna region, the is situated inside of an evocative medieval hamlet. Built before 1025, the Castle is among the oldest historic castles in the region and has been declared National Monument in 1922. Inside of the Castle it is possible to visit the magnificent halls entirely furnished together with its frescoes and its wooden and paneled ceilings with decorations from the 15th and the 17th Century. From the Castle's windows as well as from the 17th-century portico, it is possible to enjoy stunning views over the hills and plain. Two exclusive charming suites with private entrances are available inside of the Castle to enjoy a pleasant stay in a romantic atmosphere rich in history, enclosed in a medieval village surrounded by a beautiful landscape. The suites in the Castle does not need air conditioning because of the thickness of the ancient walls that offer both insulation from the outdoor heat during summer and heat retention during the winter season. In the village, besides the castle, a family run local restaurant offers excellent local cuisine. Nearby it is possible to visit other medieval villages, ancient abbeys, art cities and to organize wine and food tasting tours; it is also possible to enjoy golf in Salsomaggiore, or walking and riding along woods and countryside trails as well as to relax in the Terme Berzieri Spa in Salsomaggiore. The Castle has been declared National Monument in 1922.
